NAMM 2017: The Mackie Big Knob goes Passive!
The Big Knob has become one of the most popular monitor controllers, with its flexible I/O ergonomic layout and very handy studio features such as the in-built talk back mic. This original design has been given a significant upgrade.
The Big Knob is now available in three different models: Passive, Studio and Studio Plus; The latter two include a high-res USB interface, boasting 2 x Onyx mic-pre’s with 60dB of gain. All three models maintain mono, mute and dim functions too.
The Big Knob passive, is designed for those not wanting to sacrifice the sound of their premium AD/DA convertors for the sake of a master volume controller. It’s simplicity could be just what some users are after. It offers two stereo source inputs, and two stereo monitor outputs, and of course - one big knob to control it all.
The Studio and Studio+ can be used as audio-interfaces in project studios, making them exceptionally useful for small tracking sessions. Or as dedicated monitor controllers / studio hubs. USB Interface aside, the Studio+ features a discrete amp-driven stereo output, designed to be patched straight into a headphone distribution system. Both Studio and Studio+ have talkback options and flexible cue-mix options that feed into the discrete headphone mixes.
