Like the original Neumann* M49, our BeesNeez M49 Microphone shares the same physical size and sonic characteristics of its namesake. Many clones of this quality can cost you 3-4 times as much. But now, you can have one with higher quality internals, including the most important part, a world class M7 capsule, transformer, and unique Swivel Mount Connector, all at an affordable price.

Circuit Design

The transformer in the BeesNeez M49 Clone is BV-11t, which is a 10:1 toroidal transformer, wound with pure copper wire around a ribbon-taped Mu metal core.

The capsule is the BeesNeez M7 microphone capsule which is hand made in our Australian factory from the original gun barrel material that Neumann used more than 65 years ago. Sonically, the BeesNeez M7 is a match for the original Neumann M7. The main reason for the popularity of this capsule is its realistic analogy of the source material, its great mathematic proximity, and its sultry overtones.

The tube choice for the BeesNeez M49 Microphone is a 6S6B-V Russian Military tube, which behaves very much like the AC701k.

Sonic Characteristics

Our primary focus in this microphone has been to keep it sonically true to the original M49. The end result has been a smooth and sultry microphone that can tame even the wildest vocalist and help your recording to sound finished even before post-processing.

Build Quality

The BeesNeez M49 Microphone body is made from brass tube. The base is turned from 380 grade solid brass round that we cut and form in our very own 8-axis turning center. Our proprietary swivel mount connector features a gold-pinned Bakelite socket. Our pins are turned rather than pressed. The advantage here is a lifetime of connection without degradation.
