The classic 6176 tube mic preamp and FET compressor served as the secret sauce for some of music history’s most well-known artists and recording engineers. From artists such as Norah Jones to John Mayer, and producers like Tony Visconti and Jack Puig, the 6176 has contributed to the recordings of numerous chart-topping hits and critically acclaimed albums, further solidifying its reputation in the industry.
We want to keep that classic alive with the Behringer 676, a classic mic/line tube preamp and compressor with custom-built Midas transformers, premium 12AX7/ECC83S and 12AT7/6072 tubes for a warm and rich sound. In just a single rack unit, the 676 provides a versatile range of tonal possibilities that can bring that same timeless quality to any recording.
676 is made for simplicity and ease of use. The preamp section features controls for input gain, impedance, polarity, high or low frequency shelf, as well as high or low boost/cut. It can even be operated independently of the compressor with the flip of the Join/Split switch.
This circuit has been praised by so many producers and engineers for its ability to give you complete freedom to fine-tune and bring the best out of any vocal or instrument before it hits the compressor.
