In this video we use the Arturia Beatstep Pro hardware sequencer to sequence up the Roland System 500 Eurorack Modular Analog Synth and send midi sync to the Korg Volca Beats.
CV and Gate was sent from sequence one of the Beatstep Pro into the System 500 key and envelope CV and Gate inputs. 2 Sequences were alternated at random intervals in the Jam to give some flow and melodic difference. The second oscillator was introduced on the System 500 a 4th above the root note to add character to the sound. level of the second oscillator, the oscillator 1 pulse-width and filter frequency was modulated in real time to show movement.
The Volca Beats provided all the drum sounds. I added a second sequence which was a copy of sequence number 1 but I added a 16th note hi-hat pattern. The hi-hat sound was modulated with the Volca Stutter effect to change the tone. I really like the Volca kick sound. Very reminiscent of a TR808 kick.
